What am I up to.

Let me tell you what I have gotten my self into, Blogging!!! The giant world of rss feeds and news aggregation. With the beginning of my new job I was joyfully assigned the task of evangelizing the benefits and usability of web 2.0 methodology. Now I have been building websites for close to 15 years and I have had my own company, worked for start ups, non-profits, and nation wide corperations so I think its save to say that I have exsperienced a great deal of working methodology.

In the last 6 months I have undergone web designers version of a spiritual awakining. Now some of you may say to yourself ... "uh, aren't you coming late to the party?" well yeah probally. But there is no zealot like a freash convert and now that's me. A born again web designer.

My frustrations with the web almost led me to getting out of the industry all together. I day dreamed of being a park ranger or school teacher. In the end the need to take care of my family won over and I just needed to stick it out. However my ill feelings and frustrations were still growing. I found my self dreading any side project that came my way. The negotiations and contract approval and all the prep work to even get to the point of building anything. The money was not enough to make me give up my family time infavor of profit. I mean really what's worth more the drooling smile from you baby boy while you watch him bounce in jumpy seat or $100 bucks an hour with a client that has no idea what he wants or one that wants everything right now for a flat $500 website because that was his sisters son charges.
