I found Komodo edit while working on one of my many contracting gigs. It's what I use for straight PHP development. It jsut works better for me. My favorite features is the code coloring and the tab structures. Not really sure how to explain this last one but it's great. It shows you were you have indented your lines so you have a visual que for block of code at the same level.
Love it! Oh and it's Free. There is also a upgraded version for sale... but I have not needed it thus far. Enjoy
